Preventing COVID-19 in the Workplace:
What Markham Businesses Need to Know

Updated February 2020

The Ontario provincial offences officers are visiting businesses and a variety of workplaces across the City of Markham to ensure they are in compliance with COVID-19 rules and regulations.

This activity is part of Ontario’s expansion of its “Stay Safe All Day” workplace campaign. The primary focus of the blitz is to educate employers and staff on the latest guidance to prevent COVID-19 in the workplace.

The blitz will include a variety of workplaces including:

  • Retail establishments
  • Restaurants providing take-out meals
  • Essential service-sector establishments (example: gas stations)

If your business is allowed to be open during the current Stay-at-Home order in York Region, please make sure that your business is currently:

  1. Adhering to capacity limits
  2. Has a visible, accessible safety plan: Download the Safety Plan Template Here
  3. Ensuring that employees and customers are wearing a mask or face covering in indoor areas and can physically distance
