Sadly, due to the COVID-19 restrictions and uncertainty last fall, the Markham Fair was unable to happen. But luckily this year, from September 30th to October 3rd the Markham Fair is back with Markham Fair in a Flash; Farming Our Way back! But it’s not how we know it.
In the 177th year, the Markham Fair has created a hybrid event that will show case some of our favourite parts of the fair in a way that is safe for everyone!
Markham Fair in a Flash is here to give visitors a snapshot at the classic fair we have grown to love! This year, follow the one-way walk through of the classic fair exhibits. Meet all the farm animals, see who won the competitions, explore the monster trucks and tractors, pick up some fruits and vegetables at the farmers market, and don’t forget to bring home some tasty fair eats from the food trucks at the end of the walk through. There is this and so much more to see and do at the Markham Fair in a Flash this year! If you haven’t been to the fair this year, then it’s like you haven’t been at all.
Unlike in years past, this year, the fair will consist of a one-way walk thru path during the weekend to help maintain social distancing for visitors, volunteers and staff; once you walk past something, you won’t be able to go back. Everyone will walk and explore the fair at their own pace, but it is estimated that it will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours in length to walk through all exhibits. Additional safety measures have been put in place by requiring masks be worn at all times, tickets must be purchased online and in advance, and admission timeslots have been created to help allow for social distancing within the fair itself. Visit the Markham Fair website for all details and COVID-19 safety protocols.
