Explore the exhibitions, express your creativity, and experience the marvels of engineering and technology!

Activities will be supervised by volunteers and staff. Parents/guardians must remain on site at all times. Activities are located in several buildings throughout the 25-acre Markham Museum site. Guided tours are also available at 11:00 and 1:00 PM with no additional cost.

Varley Art Gallery of Markham

Mark your calendar for a special celebration at the Varley!

In honour of the 50th anniversary of the Little Native Hockey League (LNHL) and Markham’s first hosting of the LNHL’s annual tournament, the Varley Art Gallery presents a lineup of free activities for all to enjoy as part of the festivities.

Crosby Memorial Arena is located just across the road from the Varley, so drop by any time to experience the Indigenous-designed LunarFest lanterns in the Varley courtyard. Be sure to also step inside and engage in the free hands-on activities. Then explore historic and contemporary works by Indigenous artists, and others, on display in our exhibition spaces.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to celebrate the LNHL’s golden anniversary and the communal spirit it embodies!

Flexible drop in for children. Includes board games, crafts, colouring, stem blocks, Parachute games, cooperative games, cards, etc. Activities will be supervised by volunteers and staff. Participants under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a guardian age 15 and older to sign them in/out. Parents/guardians must remain on site at all times.
Indoor Pool Recreational Swim March 11, 2024 1:00 - 2:00 PM All Ages Open to all ages for recreational swimming. Swimmers ages 10 and under must be accompanied by a guardian age 15 and older.
Admission Policy:
5 years and under: 1 guardian to 2 children
6-9 years of age: 1 guardian to 2 children or 1 guardian to 6 children if all children are wearing lifejackets. Note 6-9 year olds who pass the swim test may swim alone.
10 years +: may swim alone
Lifeguards will supervise this activity. Bathing attire: bathing suit or clean clothing specifically for the purpose of bathing.

This program is taught by certified swim instructors who will teach progressive skills to meet the Swim to Survive Standard

Capacity: 30 per session.
Bathing attire: bathing suit or clean clothing specifically for the purpose of bathing.
