Are you looking for a perfect weekend getaway near Toronto? Markham is the spot! Here’s your guide to see, do, and eat in this diverse city just north of the bustling metropolis. Markham offers a delightful mix of cultural experiences, delicious cuisine, and natural beauty.

Day 1: Evening Check-In

Check into the trendiest hotel in Markham, Toronto Marriott Markham, and begin your weekend in the Downtown Markham core.

Head to dinner at Kiu Japanese Restaurant, or if you’re down for an adventure, consider driving 10 minutes to try some of Markham’s famous Asian cuisines at First Markham Place. The options are endless! A few favourites from there would be Brown Donkatsu & Ramen, KAKA All You Can Eat, Nakwon Korean Restaurant, and Ding Tai Fung.

Finish the night off at Claw and Kitty, a super fun arcade at First Markham Place (a great place if you’re travelling with kids). If you’re looking for more of a relaxing night in, visit Go Place for a peaceful spa experience or head to the VIP Cineplex in Downtown Markham.

Day 2: Explore

Start the morning with a short 5 minute drive to brunch at Sisters and Co, as we welcome their second location finally opening in Markham! After brunch, head to Main St Unionville, Markham’s historic district. Admire the picturesque streets, heritage buildings, quaint shops, and enjoy a walk through the lovely Toogood Pond Park. If it’s too cold for a walk, stop in the Varley Art Gallery and explore their new exhibitions.

Looking to do more on Main St Unionville? Grab a cup of hot chocolate and some sweet little treats at Old Firehall Confectionery, before heading to Crock A Doodle to get your paint on!

Once you’re ready to eat, visit Watercolour and check out their delicious menu of Mediterranean dishes. Dine in their elegant dining room with warm lighting, textured fabrics, and artwork celebrating Mediterranean seascapes.

If you’re looking for a night out with some friends, drive 8 minutes to the largest outdoor ice rink in Markham at the Markham Civic Centre.

Day 3: Check Out

As your weekend getaway in Markham comes to an end, pack your bags and check out of your accommodation. You can extend your stay or plan to return in the future to explore more of what this vibrant city has to offer.

P.S. You can’t leave Markham without having Dim Sum! Visit Casa Victoria for the endless dim sum options they have, before you drive off. Trust us, you’ll definitely be coming back for more!
