ELIGIBILITY
The Markham Indy Weekend Getaway Contest (the “Contest”) is open to all legal residents of Canada who have reached the age of majority in their province/territory of residence at the time of entry.
The Contest is not open to the elected officials, officers, directors, employees, or agents of Destination Markham Corporation (“DMC”) or the City of Markham, or any of their respective affiliates, advertising/promotional agencies, contractors, or promotional partners, nor to members of their immediate families or households. Destination Markham Corporation reserves the right, at any time and in its sole discretion, to verify the eligibility of any entrant or potential winner.
CONTEST PERIOD
The Contest begins on February 11, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) and ends on February 22, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. EST (the “Contest Period”). Entries received before or after the Contest Period will not be eligible.
ENTRY
No purchase is necessary to enter the Contest.
There are three (3) methods to enter the Contest during the Contest Period:
Method #1:
Eligible individuals may scan the QR code displayed at the Destination Markham booth at the Canadian International Auto Show and complete the electronic entry form as instructed.
Method #2:
Eligible individuals may complete an entry using the on-site touchscreen entry system available at the Destination Markham booth at the Canadian International Auto Show.
Method #3:
Individuals who submit to Destination Markham Corporation by email to info@visitmarkham.ca a hand written, 1000-word essay about why you would like to visit Markham with your contact information during the Contest Period will be entered into the Contest.
Each entry must include the entrant’s full name, email address, phone number, city and province of residence, and postal code.
All entries become the property of Destination Markham Corporation and will not be returned. By entering the Contest, entrants grant Destination Markham Corporation the right to use entry information for the purposes of administering the Contest, without further notice or compensation.
Bonus Entry (Newsletter Sign-Up):
During the Contest Period, an eligible entrant may receive one (1) additional entry by voluntarily providing express consent to receive Destination Markham Corporation’s electronic newsletter and other commercial electronic messages. Consent must be provided through the opt-in mechanism made available at the time of entry. Limit of one (1) bonus entry per person. Providing consent to receive marketing communications is not required to enter the Contest or to be eligible to win.
PRIZE
There are three (3) prizes available to be won (each, a “Prize”).
Prize 1 consists of two (2) nights’ accommodation at a hotel located in Markham, Ontario, with an approximate retail value of six hundred dollars ($600 CAD) (calculated as $300 CAD per night for two (2) nights). The winner may select the hotel stay dates, subject to hotel availability and blackout dates, as determined by Destination Markham Corporation. Prize 1 also includes five hundred dollars ($500 CAD) in restaurant gift cards for use at Smash Kitchen & Bar and Costa Sorrento. The approximate retail value of Prize 1 is one thousand one hundred dollars ($1,100 CAD).
Prize 2 consists of two (2) Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham tickets, with an approximate retail value of two hundred and thirty-five dollars ($235 CAD) per ticket. The approximate retail value of Prize 2 is four hundred and seventy dollars ($470 CAD).
Prize 3 consists of one (1) seventy-five inch (75″) television by Samsung or LG, with an approximate retail value of nine hundred and thirty dollars ($930 CAD). The approximate retail value of Prize 3 is nine hundred and thirty dollars ($930 CAD).
Each Prize must be accepted as awarded, and is not transferable, assignable, or redeemable for cash, in whole or in part. No substitutions will be made except at the sole discretion of Destination Markham Corporation. Destination Markham Corporation reserves the right to substitute any Prize or any component thereof with a prize of equal or greater value if a Prize becomes unavailable for any reason.
PRIZE EXCLUSIONS
The Prize does not include transportation to or from Markham, hotel parking, meals not covered by the included gift cards, incidentals, gratuities, personal expenses, or any other costs, taxes, or fees not expressly listed as part of the Prize. All such costs are the sole responsibility of the winner.
DRAW
Three (3) potential winners will be selected by random draw from among all eligible entries received during the Contest Period, with each selected entrant eligible to win one (1) Prize only.
WINNER NOTIFICATION
The selected potential winner will be contacted by email and/or phone using the contact information provided at the time of entry. Up to three (3) attempts may be made to contact the potential winner.
If the potential winner does not respond within seventy-two (72) hours of notification, is deemed ineligible, or does not comply with these Contest Rules, the Prize will be forfeited and another potential winner may be selected by random draw from the remaining eligible entries.
PRIZE CLAIM
Before being declared a winner and receiving the Prize, the selected entrant must:
Correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question; and
Sign a declaration confirming compliance with these Contest Rules, releasing Destination Markham Corporation and the City of Markham from all liability related to the Contest or the Prize; and
Consent to the use of their name, city of residence, photograph, and/or likeness, without compensation, in any publicity carried out by Destination Markham Corporation and the City of Markham.
Failure to satisfy any of the above conditions will result in forfeiture of the Prize.
PERSONAL INFORMATION
By entering the Contest, entrants consent to their personal information being collected, stored, used, and processed by Destination Markham Corporation and the City of Markham for the purposes of administering the Contest. If an entrant separately provides express consent to receive Destination Markham Corporation’s electronic newsletter and other commercial electronic messages, Destination Markham Corporation may also use the entrant’s contact information for those purposes. Entrants may withdraw consent to receive commercial electronic messages at any time by using the unsubscribe mechanism provided in such messages.
THIRD-PARTY DISCLAIMER
The Canadian International Auto Show, the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham event organizer, Samsung, LG, Smash Kitchen & Bar, Costa Sorrento, and any participating hotels are not sponsors of, do not endorse, and are not responsible for this Contest and have no liability whatsoever in connection with the Contest, the administration of the Contest, or the awarding, receipt, use, or misuse of any Prize.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
By entering the Contest, entrants agree that Destination Markham Corporation and the City of Markham shall not be liable for, and entrants agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless Destination Markham Corporation and the City of Markham, their elected officials, directors, officers, employees, agents, and affiliates from any claims, losses, damages, actions, or liabilities of any kind resulting directly or indirectly from participation in the Contest or acceptance, possession, or use of the Prize.
GENERAL
By entering this Contest, entrants agree to comply with these Contest Rules. All decisions of Destination Markham Corporation are final and binding. Destination Markham Corporation reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to prohibit any person from entering the Contest or to disqualify any entrant whom it believes to be abusing the Contest Rules, including but not limited to providing false information, attempting to enter more than once, tampering with the entry process, or otherwise interfering with the proper administration of the Contest.
Destination Markham Corporation reserves the right to cancel, modify, suspend, or terminate the Contest or these Contest Rules at any time without notice. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws.
